SellingPoint Trial FAQ

SellingPoint is a turnkey solution for establishing and maintaining an organization's connected commerce presence.

What is a trial version?

  • A trial version allows you to evaluate the SellingPoint System for a limited amount of time, typically 30 days. To use the trial version, you must activate the software the first time you run it. Otherwise, the trial version runs in Limited Functionality mode. In Limited Functionality mode, your software behaves similarly to a viewer. You cannot save modifications to catalogs or create any new catalogs, and additional functionality might be reduced. No existing data or catalogs are harmed in Limited Functionality mode. Full functionality returns when you activate the software.

What is activation and how do I get started?

  • To continue to use all of the features of your product, you must activate the product. SellingPoint activation is an anti-piracy technology designed to verify that software products are legitimately licensed. Activation works by verifying that the Installation Key, which you must supply to install the product, is not in use on more personal computers than are permitted by the software license.

How do I activate my copy of SellingPoint?

  • The activation wizard automatically contacts the Vesigo licensing servers through your Internet connection. If you are using a valid Installation Key that has not already been used for the allowed number of installations, your product is activated immediately. When you activate through the Internet, your product ID (derived from the Installation Key) is sent to Vesigo through an encrypted transfer. A response (the confirmation ID) is sent back to your computer to activate your product. If you choose to activate your product through the Internet and you are not already connected, the wizard alerts you that there is no connection.

Where can I locate the 12-character trial Installation Key to activate my trial software?

  • During the download process you received the 12-character trial product key on the "Download" and "Thank you" pages. You may also find the product key in your Thank you e-mail sent immediately after the download completed.

Can I use the trial software without activating it?

  • No. You must activate the trial software before you can use it.

How can I tell if my software has already been activated?

  1. Click the SellingPoint application button () and then choose About from the menu.
  2. Check the Activation Status. If your copy of the software is activated it will appear as Successfully Activated.

What happens when the trial expires?

  • As you reach the end of the time allowed to evaluate a trial version, you receive reminders each time that you start the product. The activation wizard reminds you that your trial is coming to an end, and asks if you want to convert to the full product. If you don't convert to the full product by the end of the trial version's time limit, the software runs in Limited Functionality mode.

How do I convert my trial to a fully licensed version?

  • You can convert from the trial software to a full-version either before or after your trial period ends. To do so, follow these steps:
    1. Purchase a license for a full version of SellingPoint. Information on how to purchase is available here: How to Purchase SellingPoint
    2. After purchasing a license for SellingPoint, you will be notified by email that your license has been activated and your existing trial number will be converted to a full-version. Ensure that your copy of SellingPoint is updated with the full license by following these steps:
      1. Click the SellingPoint application button () and then choose Tools > Activation from the menu.
      2. Follow the onscreen directions to fully activate your copy of SellingPoint.
